How to Install BeeTrack Tags

Learn how to attach BeeTrack Tags and or tag holders to hives.

Updated over a year ago

BeeTrack is designed to have one tag per colony. Nectar recommends that BeeTrack Tags are attached to the the bottom brood chamber, on the front of the hives, away from any handles.

To install tag holders:

Step 1 - Drill a 6x5/8' flat head screw through the two holes in the back of the tag holder, into the hive box.

Step 2 - Insert BeeTrack tag into the holder by sliding the tag upwards from the bottom of the holder.

Step 3 - Tags can easily be transferred from one box to another by sliding the tag out from the bottom of the holder.

To install Tags without holders:

CAUTION: DO Not Staple RFID enabled tags. Only tags that have the staple markings are designed to be stapled. Any tag without these markings have chips inside near the top and bottom of the tag which will be damaged by staples.

Staple Tags:

Attach BeeTrack tags to the hive box by stapling 2 staples through the outlined staple markings at the top and bottom of the tag. We recommend using a T50 1/4 inch or 3/8 inch or 1/2 inch staple with a heavy duty stapler.
