Manage lost hives

Learn how to manage lost hives inside your portal.

What are 'lost hives'?

In the manager's portal, when you clear out your yards, all hives previously located within those yards are flagged as 'lost' and relocated to the 'lost hives' page accessible through the left navigation panel.

You can learn how to clear out yards by clicking here

Should a lost hive be rescanned within a yard, it will be removed from the 'lost hive' page and reassigned to its yard.

It's important to note that 'lost' hives do not factor into the 'mortality' metrics for your seasons until you manually flag them as 'deadout' within the manager's portal or when scanning them as 'deadout' through the app.

View your lost hives

To view your lost hives, simply click on the 'Lost hives' page in the navigation.

Within the 'lost hives' page, you'll find a complete list of hives that were flagged as 'lost' after being cleared out from their respective yards. For each hive, you have access to the following information:

  1. "Flagged lost since": The date on which this hive was cleared out of its yard.

  2. "Previous yard": The name of the yard to which this hive was last assigned. Note: You can click on the yard name to navigate to the yard page.

  3. "Status": The current status of the hive.

  4. "Last feeding" and "Last treatment," if applicable.

  5. "Last inspected by": The name of the worker who last inspected this hive.

  6. "Grading": The current grading of the hive.

For each hive, you also have the ability to either flag it as a 'deadout' or remove it entirely from your operation.

Flag Hive as 'Deadout'

If you come across the hive and confirm that it's dead, we recommend using the 'flag as deadout' feature available in both the manager's portal and the app. By doing so, the hive will be categorized as 'deadout' and will be included in your 'mortality' metrics within the portal.

To flag a single hive as deadout, follow these steps:

Step 1 - Go to the lost hive page

Then click on the '3 dots' icon next to the hive you want to flag as deadout and click 'flag as deadout'.

Step 2 - Click flag as 'deadout'

To remove multiple hives or flag multiple hives as 'deadouts' at the same time, click here to learn how.

Remove Hives from Your Operation

We suggest using the 'remove hive' from operation only when you are unable to locate the hive again and wish to prevent any impact on your mortality data. This choice is best suited for situations where the hive's status is uncertain, and you prefer not to affect your mortality statistics.

To remove a single hive from your operation, follow these steps:

Step 1 - Go to the lost hive page

Then click on the '3 dots' icon next to the hive you want to remove from your operation and click 'remove hive'.

Step 2 - Click 'remove hive'

'Remove' or flag multiple hives as 'deadouts'

Within the 'lost hives' page, you have the option to select multiple hives simultaneously and make either remove them from your operation or flag them as 'deadouts'. To do this, simply select hives by clicking on the box next to their Id's, then choose the desired option on the multi-selection tool.
