Queen lines, genetics, and providers can be tracked in the Practices tab under Queen Management. Once set up, this allows you to link queen data to hive performance, survival, and production across your operation.
Step 1 – Go to the Queen Management Category
Navigate to the Operation tab in the manager's portal.
Click on the Practices tab at the top of the screen.
Scroll down to the Queen Management category.
You will see the option to add and organize your queen lines, genetics, and providers.
Step 2 – Enter Queen information
Create entries for the queen types you want to track.
Once created, these can be applied to individual hives during inspections.
Step 3 – Track Queen Survival
At the minimum, track queen survival:
Assign a queen type to each hive.
When a queen dies, scan the hive as a Deadout, or update the hive with the new queen type once introduced.
Step 4 – Track Introduction Success
Record the queen type and use the Hive Statuses (Introduced, Queenright, Queenless) to measure introduction success rates.
Step 5 – Track Performance Indicators
You can link additional data points to your queen types for deeper insights:
Honey Production – Enter the number of honey supers harvested per yard.
Build Up – Record Frames of Bees gradings during inspections.
Bee Production – Track the number of nucs or splits created using the Split Made or Nucs Made sliders.
Insights and reports
Once you’ve entered data, Nectar can generate reports such as:
Average honey supers harvested per queen type
Queen survival rates by provider
Frames of bees growth by genetic line
Tips & Tricks
Start with survival tracking first, then add more performance indicators over time.
Keep queen type entries consistent so results are accurate across hives and yards.
Use Hive Status updates regularly to monitor introduction success.
Review reports often to compare providers and genetics before making new purchases.
